So I’ve been thinking and this I felt was a good idea for a
blog posting. Firstly, it allows me to think about random things of myself,
which is not always a negative thing at all. Secondly, it allows these facts
and thoughts to remain in my head and release themselves more freely into
conversation when I do meet new people and at some point or another they want
to know certain things or facts about me.
47 things though is a bit of a long list to pour out into a
blog and I’m pretty wordy already, and besides that I have another topic
brewing that I want to write about today so I have decided that this post will
be broken down into 3 sections, 2 consisting of 15 facts (which would equal
30…) and then a final one consisting of 17 (shoot, I’ve been thinking 12 in my
head…I suck at math).
Here goes:
2. As much as I love animals, I don’t always like them very much. Does this seem hypocritical? Oh well. Anyone following this read about my puppy fever months ago. Anything that starts off with a fever usually cools down. Oh I love my dog very much, she’s great, but not quite what I expected. I love my cats very much, but that doesn’t mean I like it when they scatter dead mice everywhere, or molest my hair, or pee on my things because I decide that perhaps I do like having bathroom rugs. I’m on the fence about other people’s animals. I like mine well enough that I won’t get rid of them, but that isn’t true at all for other folks. I generally like them but I don’t. I don’t want them licking me or touching me or rubbing up on me, unless maybe I’m inebriated or feeling particularly lovey that day. I get it though, I had kittens before I had kids. I had a baby puppy. I know that overwhelming feeling of love for a small creature. And then they get big.
3. I am extremely tech savvy. Extreme is an extreme adjective to use. I love my technology and I can figure it out quickly. I understand how it works. And yes, I have hacker friends.
4. I am afraid of heights and fish. A) Heights are scary. Didn’t realize this until kind of recently when I was on someone’s apartment balcony seized with fear and a heart banging panic at the mere idea that I might fall to the ground and splatter my body upon the cement. Then it dawned on me that it wasn’t the first time I had experienced that. Acrophobia. B) Not all fish, just fish with big pointy scary teeth that live in water. Plain and simple. Not a big fish eater anyhow but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they don’t want to eat me. I saw that whole season about the freshwater fish too. Visiting the zoo/aquarium only firmly mounts this idea even more so.
5. I am addicted to polka dots, stripes and flower prints. At one point many years ago I evaluated a shopping trip and the spoils of such and realized that I only buy polka dotted or striped things. Over the last year flowers have been included. I love flowers.
6. I type over 85 wpm. Sometimes. When I’m writing research or transcribing. But I am a fast typist and I have years of practice.
7. I am inked. A bit.
8. I feel this strange connection to Octopi. I don’t know what’s up with this if it is an evolved mermaid obsession or what but I think that they are strange, mysterious and amazing creatures and when they are artfully done I like them even more. I thought it might be funny to get an octopus tattoo on my thigh but I was quickly dissuaded. They are such wonderful creatures though.
9. Male superheroes I want to bang in order: Superman, Gambit, Wolverine, Batman.
10. I have low capacity for bullshit. Took me awhile. I’m learning how to see it and call it out when I do see it. Nothing but nonsense sometimes. If you leave the door open it will come pouring in. If you leave a window cracked, it will force itself through.
11. Musical Instruments I can/have played: Voice, violin, tambourine, triangle, recorder, bass guitar, piano
12. Current best friend: Would my computer count? I have friends and I have some good ones I have had for a long time but I wouldn’t say anyone is my bestest friend. It used to be Baby Marilyn but that isn’t quite an appropriate relationship to have with one’s child past infancy. It isn’t my dog. My old besties found other besties and life happens. I ride solo.
13. I’m not so good at math. Thank goodness for Siri and her mathematical functions and capabilities. The longer I am away from math classes the worse I get. Oh well.
14. Or directions. Get lost everywhere I go.
15. Je parle francais juste un peu. Juste un peu. I can carry on and translate if I need to. I have never had practical application for any of my foreign language skills other than reading the backs of shampoo bottles and occasionally writing an e-mail or reading something online.
My brain doesn’t want to think anything out anymore right
now and I want to work on the other blog I am trying to write today.
More soon.
